Emily P. Dunne
Emily Peterson Dunne is a collage artist and archivist living and working in Queens, New York. Her work is deeply informed by her career in archives & libraries. Her practice is extremely material-based, with the source material consisting of lost photographs, found books, or anything that’s been abandoned. The history of the objects and individual photographs are key; their re-contextualization gives the objects new meaning and a purpose.
She is also the founding member of the “Queens CorresponDance School” based on the ideas and artwork of Ray Johnson. The QCS is a growing network of visual artists collaborating through the mail. An exhibition of the culmination of these collaborations was curated by Dunne and exhibited in the Long Island City Gallery, Practice in 2015.
